Leave Nice at 7:30 am for a scenic Provence train ride to Entrevaux and Annot. Expect medieval villages, a steep climb to Vauban’s citadel, forest walks, lunch, and a full day with a guide such as Carmela. Moderate fitness is needed.

Leave Nice early with a local guide such as Cyril, Carmela, or Matthew for a scenic train ride into the Southern Alps. Visit Entrevaux and its citadel, eat local food, then hike among sandstone formations and old chestnut trees near Annot. Expect a long, active day.
“We had a great day even though it was very hot. Our guide Matthew was amazing and super knowledgeable. The hiking trail was a bit tough in the beginning but the rest was beautiful and even appreciated by our 7 year old son who managed to complete the journey without complaining. The only thing which everyone should be aware of is that the first stop -the village of Entrevoux has a citadel which requires about 30-40 mins climbing the hill. That is also quite energy draining given the 4 hour hike afterwards.”
